About the Safari

This 11-day Best of Uganda Safari takes you on an unforgettable exploration of the Pearl of Africa. Your journey begins with rhino tracking, followed by a visit to Murchison Falls National Park to complete your Big Five experience. Enjoy a scenic boat trip to the base of the mighty falls, and embark on a thrilling hike to the top. In Kibale National Park, you’ll enjoy chimpanzee trekking in the primate capital, then head to Queen Elizabeth National Park to encounter the rare tree-climbing lions of Ishasha. Explore the Kazinga Channel on a boat cruise and visit Bwindi for an ultimate gorilla trekking experience. The adventure concludes with a visit to Lake Mburo National Park, home to high concentrations of zebras and impalas, before stopping at the Equator for a photo op.

Safari Highlights

Day 1 - Airport Pick-up and Transfer to Accommodation

You will be picked up by your Wild Breeze Safaris driver-guide and transferred to your accommodation for relaxation and time adjustment.

Day 2 - Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After an early breakfast, you will embark on your journey to Murchison Falls National Park, with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a thrilling on-foot rhino tracking experience. Afterward, enjoy a lunch stop in Nakasongola or Masindi, then proceed to Murchison Falls National Park, home to Uganda’s largest wildlife haven. Expect to see lions, giraffes, buffalo, elephants, and an incredible variety of birds, including the elusive shoebill stork.

Day 3 - Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise to the Base of the Falls

After an early breakfast, embark on a morning game drive in the northern section of Murchison Falls. Keep an eye out for elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, giraffes, and Uganda Kob. On a good day, you will spot lions, hyenas, and leopards. After lunch and relaxation, head out for a 2-hour boat trip to the base of the falls. You’ll have the chance to observe hippos, crocodiles, and aquatic birds up close.

Optional: Hike to the top of the falls for a thrilling view of the waterfalls. It’s a strenuous but rewarding hike.

Day 4 - Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, enjoy panoramic views of Murchison Falls from the top, then transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, the primate capital of Uganda.

  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.

  • Drive Time: Approx. 7-8 hours

Day 5 - Chimp Trekking and Bigodo Wetland Excursion

Wake up to the sounds of primates in Kibale Forest, which is home to the highest concentration of primate species in the world, including over 1,450 individual chimpanzees. After an 8:00 AM briefing by your ranger-guide, you’ll track the chimps for 1 hour. Later, take a walk through the Bigodo Wetlands—a birder’s paradise, and encounter more primates. Then, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for your overnight stay.

Day 6- Morning game drive and afternoon boat trip along the Kazinga channel.

Have an early morning breakfast and head out for a morning game drive in the magnificent Kasenyi plains to view an abundance of wild animals like reedbuck, bushbuck, Kob, warthogs, elephants, lions, the Leopard, buffaloes and so much more.

Later you will return to the lodge for Lunch.

In the afternoon head out for a two hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a water stream joining Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel attracts a large school of hippos and Nile crocodiles, besides the variety of birds that flock to the reed shores like the pelicans, kingfishers, saddle-billed stork, and sometimes the crowned cranes. Return to your accommodation in time for your dinner.

Day 7-Transfer to Bwindi with a game drive in the Ishasha area

Have breakfast then set off for Bwindi NP through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park – famously known for its resident tree-climbing lions. The chance of spotting these lions is about 70% though sometimes they are hard to spot (most especially when they are down in the grassland looking for prey).

Bwindi is one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests, which dates back over 25,000 years and contains almost 400 species of plants, blankets its mist-covered hillsides.

With a strenuous day ahead, you will do less on arrival but just check in your accommodation, and relax as you prepare for the Bwindi gorilla trekking experience the following day

Day 8-Gorilla tracking in Bwindi and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular! The area offers a dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but surrounded by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists.

The time is taken and the terrain varies with the movements of these great primates but it varies from between 1 – 7 hours.  Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome experience.

 After the tracking experience, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for Relaxation and Overnight

Day 9 - Exploring Lake Bunyonyi.

This is the ideal day for you to take a deserved rest after tedious drives and the previous’ days’ experience scaling the Bwindi Mountains trekking gorillas. You can thus relax as you listen to the whispers of the wild and feast your eyes on the amazing beauty that is Lake Bunyonyi. All meals will be served at the accommodation facility.

Optional.

  • At an extra cost, you can opt for a canoe ride or Kayaking on Uganda’s deepest lake and discover the wonders of this beautiful lake with numerous islands.
  • It is locally known as the lake of many small birds due to the different resident small birds which choose the place as their perfect habitat.

 You can also explore some of the historical Islands like the punishment island where girls in the region were thrown after getting pregnant before marriage. All activities can be arranged on site with help from your driver guide.

Day 10-Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, bid farewell to the Switzerland of Africa as you drive through the rolling green hills and sharp corners on your way to Lake Mburo.

 You will have a lunch break in Mbarara and a stop at the Igongo Cultural Center for the Western cultural experience before proceeding.

You will have an evening game drive in Lake Mburo to see game like the Zebras, Elands, and Impalas among other wildlife species like Giraffes, Statunga and a variety of bird species.

Day 11- Morning boat ride on Lake Mburo and return to Entebbe via the equator.

After breakfast, you will go for a mid-morning boat cruise on Lake Mburo. You will see a variety of game like Buffaloes, Giraffes, Zebras and several Antelopes. You will also catch up with lots of hippos on your boat ride.

Later, return to the lodge, check out and embark on your journey to Entebbe via the Equator to end the Safari.
